Nice Riding Conditions Today

Just got back from a quick ride, and the conditions out on the trails are great, should be great riding for the winter carnival this weekend. My son Jim and his girlfriend Kylie went with me, they are in one of the pictures below, and we saw a couple of deer and one of them as you can see in the picture was posing for me. Hats off to the groomers and everyone getting things ready, we saw Steve out there grooming, and he told us he also groomed a trail on the lake, which was nice and smooth riding into the carnival area.

Trail Conditions After The Storm

Just got back from a short ride I took from Sebago Cove to Long Lake. The trails are not groomed yet but are still in good shape from sleds packing them down over the past 2 days. Looks like a few riders went too fast and wound up off the trail into the deep snow, so be careful it looks like a lot of work to get them back on the trail from the mess they left behind. Long Lake has not had that much traffic yet but I rode out on it for a short way and it seemed fine. Should be perfect after the groomers get to the trails.

Ride Before The Storm

Went out for a ride on Monday the last day of the month before the storm and had some pretty good riding conditions. I started from Sebago Cove and crossed 114 to check out the condition at Sebago Lake, as you can see from the picture below it is frozen but in rough shape from riders trying to ride through the slush.

From there I headed over to Long Lake where the trails on the west side of the lake are in great shape. Long Lake is better for riding now as most of the slush has frozen now and sled traffic has smoothed things out a bit. The trail from the redemption center on the east side of the lake, to the juggs town trail was pretty rough, but once on the juggs town trail everything got much better.

From juggs town trail to the power lines to Quaker Ridge were all in great riding shape. Did not see anyone on the trails except for Tyler from Windham who is in the picture below, and he told me the trails heading back to Raymond were in rough shape.

Headed  back down and got gas at Tommys and rode down through Brays and the Tiki Bar on 302 which was also in good shape and got a nice sunset shot getting back on to Long Lake. I added a few photographs below so you can see the conditions and I will be going out today (Friday 2-4-11) after lunch to see how things look, and will make a post later.

Trail conditions real nice today

Went out riding all day today on the west side of Long Lake and the conditions were great and there is plenty of snow. Went out onto Long Lake for a quick run, but it was slushy in a lot of spots so we stayed up in the trails.

Trail Conditions Not Bad After Storm

Went out riding today January 15, 2011 and conditions were pretty good, but it helped that we wound up behind the groomer. Saw quite a few sleds out there and it was cold but not too bad. The lake at Sebago cove was getting a lot of traffic and in good riding condition. We went down onto Long Lake and sleds have been riding out there but I think I will wait a few more days before I go out and cross the lake. Here are a few pics I took out there today.

Helmet Cam Test Run On Snowmobile

This is my test run for my helmet cam that I want to use as the season goes on to show conditions on the trails. I know it is not a good idea to tape when it is snowing because it gets all over the lens. Also I need to adjust the camera up to get a better view of the trails. But live and learn, this is the first try at it and they will continue to get better. Check the video below to see the trails today, that were a little better than yesterday.

First Ride January 2 2010

Saw a bunch of sleds ride by the house this afternoon and thought I might as well go out and check out the trails. I rode across sebago cove and rode to long lake past the sunny window restaurant. The trails were in OK shape most of the way with  some bare spots where the little streams cross the trail, but nothing major, it was surprisingly pretty good riding. Looks like some people have  been riding across long lake, but I think I will give it a little more time before I do that. We are supposed to get more snow tonight, so I think I will go out again tomorrow and take some pictures and try out my video helmet cam. Check back tomorrow and I'll have some pictures and video to watch. Took some photos with my cell phone today but forgot my cord to upload them, so I will have to wait until tomorrow for pictures.

Here are a few images I took with my cellphone, as you can see, conditions were pretty good.

Trail Pictures From Last Week

Went out riding last week, and am just getting around to getting the images on to the web site. Conditions were great for the 2 rides that I took. Went across the lake on my first ride up to edes falls and around the clubhouse (Muddy River Snoseekers) conditions were really good, smooth the whole way, the lake was a little bumpy but real good overall. The groomers were busy, saw the first one down by sebago cove, they were doing a great job.

The second day I saw Steve and Scott out grooming, got to ride behind them for a short while, they were making the trails real nice. I went down and crossed Peabody Pond and did the small loop back to the main trail, the trails were perfect. From there I went down to the rail beds to Lamprons where the riding was also great. When I crossed 302 heading to Long Lake it started to get bumpy and rough, not to bad on Otter pond. Ran Long Lake back to the main trail, the Lake wasn't too bad, and headed back.

Will be out riding this whole weekend, so I will let you know how it is and take some pictures. Below are some photos I took from the last  2 rides.

First Ride 2009

Went out for my first ride today after having a 6 inch snowstorm last night and into the day today. I only saw 2 sleds in the 2 hours I was out, and I broke trail for the first 5 miles, so it was real nice. Rode down to Long Lake but didn't go out onto the lake even though I saw sleds out there yesterday and all the fishing huts are out there now. Trails were smooth even though no one was out before me, so everything must have been pretty packed down the day before. I did ride out on Sebago Cove though and that was fine. Going to try and get out tomorrow, but here are some pictures from today.

The snow is plentiful and everyplace looks beautiful

Was out riding this past weekend, and the conditions could not have been much better. Just a little slush on the lakes and
ponds, but really pretty great conditions. All the businesses around the trails looked great framed in snow and we saw
a lot of sleds taking advantage of great riding. Conditions look like they are going to be perfect for the winter carnival in naples this coming weekend. We will be out there taking lots of photos and see if we cant get some video. See you out there.

Lots of snow and nice trails

The trails on the other side of lake house road were really nice on Friday. Today on Sunday they were a little rough, but not bad considering all of the
sleds that we saw out there. Sebago Cove was pretty slushy but you can cross to get to the trails as long as you keep on moving. We rode out to Denmark
and most of the trails were in good shape.
